Chevrolet next year will introduce the Volt, a plug-in hybrid electric car. Its part of a test before the company starts selling to the public within the next two years.

Vancouvers trolley bus fleet operates at 600 volts and god knows how many amps. For extended range I guess one could carry a fairly modest generator set in the trunk to avoid ever being stranded. Im certain that they have customers that make 240 KW look like a 9v battery.
