Jaguar has unveiled the C-X75 concept, an extended range electric vehicle that uses twin gas micro-turbines from Bladon Jets to power two switched reluctance generators from SR Drives. Turbines offer a number of advantages over a reciprocating piston engine when powering range-extending generators, Jaguar says.

The City of Seneca and Oconee County will purchase 35' Proterra Catalyst zero-emission extended-range battery electric buses to the nation's first all-electric transit bus system.

The Hummer H3E is a plug-in electric vehicle with an onboard range extender. It’s designed to go about 40 miles in all-electric mode after which a small gas powered engine kicks in and powers a generator which then re-charges the batteries. The H3E can go about 400 miles before needing to refuel.
