Reuters news service and the independent Volt fan site, GM-Volt.com , both reported today that GM has decided to select Compact Power Inc., The Volt, which GM prefers to call an extended-range electric vehicle, doesn’t use its internal combustion engine for propulsion, relying entirely on an electric drive system.

For on-the-go juice ups, the idea is to exchange your dead battery for a fresh one owned by Better Place. My parents live about 180 miles away, which is well outside the range of most electric cars.
