GM posted sales of 4,244 Volt extended range electric vehicles in the US in the second quarter, representing an 8.4% Honda sold 46 units of the battery-electric Fit in Q1, and 45 units of the Accord PHEV plug-in hybrid. Mitsubishi sold 625 units of the battery-electric i-MIEV in Q1, and 31 units in March.

The head of Chryslers ENVI division, Lou Rhodes, told AutoblogGreen this morning that Chrysler is marketing this battery-only version of the van to commercial fleet customers who typically have shorter range requirements. The extended-range version will be focused on retail customers. Looks sharp.

I regret that the powers that be in this field are still dicking around with figuring out plug uniformity standards (which they just established: woopee), when they should -- dare I say it -- look down the road and see the virtue of uniform replaceable battery packs and therefore set standards and mandate/encourage their use.
