GM and Toyota plug-in hybrids again lead plug-in sales from major OEMs in September

In September, GM’s plug-in hybrid Chevrolet Volt (2,851 units sold) and Toyota’s plug-in hybrid Prius PHV (1,652 units sold) continued to lead sales in the US of plug-in vehicles from major OEMs. The Volt extended range electric vehicle has sold 16,348 units Jan-Sep 2012, up 319.7% in September year-on-year.

GM sold 2,633 units of the Volt extended range electric vehicle in December, up 72.2% While Toyota took second place for the year, with 12,750 units of the Prius PHV plug-in hybrid, it dropped to third place in December with 1,361 units of the PHV. All TMS hybrid sales in 2012 totaled 327,413 units, up 83.3% over 2011.
