DOE awards ~$25M to 8 projects for CO2 capture and compression; $15M for novel Direct Fuel Cell system

More than half of the funding ($15 million) will go to FuelCell Energy for a pilot scale project using one of the company’s Direct Fuel Cells for carbon capture and compression. Amtrak test of B20 snags TIME recognition

A 12-month test of a B20 (20% biodiesel and 80% diesel) biodiesel fuel blend to power the daily Amtrak Heartland Flyer train has made TIME magazine’s list of “The 50 Best Inventions of 2010.” The Heartland Flyer operates daily between Oklahoma City and Fort Worth. A hat-tip to R.M.! ).
