Oil giant Shell announced plans to close its California hydrogen refueling stations this week, as much of the automotive industry is continuing to develop hydrogen fuel cell solutions alongside the popularization of electric vehicles (EVs).

At least GM sent this nifty printed banner explaining all about the new J1772 industry standard recharging plug. At the 2008 Plug-In Conference in San Jose, Coulomb had the charging game all to themselves, but they were one of half a dozen charging players at this year’s show. Check the oil? there is no oil.

Volvo Ford-owned company exploring PHEVs "ReCharge" flex-fuel series 60-mile concept PHEV w/wheel motors. announced a partnership with utility Southern California Edison to test a fleet of rechargeable electric vehicles and said it expected to sell such plug-in hybrids within the next decade if battery technology keeps pace.
