Vattenfall and the BMW Group have signed a contract for the delivery of up to 1,000 lithium-ion batteries this year. Vattenfall will purchase the new batteries from the BMW plant in Dingolfing and use them in all storage projects. Other possible applications would be electricitystorage in private households.
The battery storage system electrified by BMW i can be equipped with new or second-life batteries. The battery storage system also includes a voltage converter and power electronics to manage the energy flow between renewable energy sources, the house interface, and the Li-Ion high-voltage battery from the BMW i3.
