Although Volvo’s Recharge model sales (EV and PHEV) fell 3% to 19,171, fully electric vehicles continued to see higher demand. The growth was propelled by its EV sales, which were up 17%, with 9,226 electric Volvo models handed over last month. Volvo expects sales of its all-electric vehicles to carry the momentum in 2024.

That’s not surprising—the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid, the company’s only previous plug-in hybrid, is a well-executed PHEV with an EPA-rated 32 miles of usable electric range that retains all the virtues of the Pacifica minivan. The e-Save button also toggles to invoke Battery Charge, which recharges the pack using engine power.

The EV discussion groups take this up and, with huge amounts of optimism, tell us that we will soon have the ability to instantly charge our electric cars at home or on the highway. If we wanted to recharge this from 110V domestic service we would need to pull 10,800,000/110 = 96,000 amps.
