Thriev , a company offering zero-emission, chauffeured cars to corporate and private users in London, is adding 20. BYD e6 electric cars to the fleet. Last month, the Mayor of London announced that from 1 January 2018, all new taxis would have to be zero-emission capable in order to gain an operating licence.

Nanjing, China and Nanjing Public Transportation Group ordered more than 1,000 fully electric transit buses and taxis from BYD Company Ltd. Authorities also placed an order for 400 of BYD’s all-electric e6, a 5-passenger cross-over utility vehicle, some of which have already hit the streets. Nanjing Jiangnan Electric Taxi Ltd.

Rotterdam Taxi Centre (RTC), one of the biggest taxi operators in the Netherlands, is switching to electric taxis and has put into service two BYD e6 models, following successful extensive operation with an e6 model. It takes only two hours to fully charge the e6 using an AC fast charging solution developed by BYD.

Under a newly signed a Memorandum of Understanding, BYD will supply greentomatocars with 50 of its battery-electric e6 models for trial use as minicabs in London. The company expects that the 50 electric BYD e6 will be available for its customers to use from the second quarter of 2013. —Mayor of London, Boris Johnson.
