Conversions are mostly for the Prius, with a few for the Ford Escape/Mercury Mariner hybrid SUVs. CalCars supports conversion programs as a strategy to increase awareness and support for PHEVs and thereby motivate automakers to build production PHEVs. Conversions are limited to certain vehicle types. So far, most start as hybrids.

The public reaction was so strong that Ford had to cut-off reservations for the Maverick hybrid, and is dealing with a production crunch to meet demand. Based on the Ford Escape compact crossover, the 2022 Ford Maverick may get a quick thumbs-down from hard core body-on-frame truck owners, but pay them no mind.

Chrysler isnt the first to realize that building an EV off of a Lotus platform makes for an incredibly fast and fun experience (see also: Tesla Roadster ) We escaped from the dark confines of Cobo Hall onto a decently sunny day and cruised along the river and past the Ren Cen, gunning the Circuit whenever possible.
