EPA estimates that the products XDP sold may result in more than 12 million pounds of excess nitrogen oxides emissions and 115,000 pounds of excess particulate matter emissions over the anticipated remaining life of the diesel pickup trucks equipped with those products.

UPS plans to purchase approximately 700 liquefied natural gas (LNG) trucks and to build four refueling stations by the end of 2014. An initial investment of more than $18 million to build fueling stations will be supported by the purchase of the 700 LNG tractors and continued expansion of the natural gas fleet in the US.

UPS has purchased another 48 heavy tractor trucks equipped to run on Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). and Las Vegas, Nev., The vehicles, to be deployed this year, will replace older generation diesel vehicles. UPS is working closely with the DOE’s Clean Cities program to construct a LNG fueling station in Las Vegas.

The environmental impact of replacing 143 million gallons of diesel fuel with RNG is the equivalent of reducing 745,000 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions—also equal to planting 12 million trees, or removing 158,000 cars off the road, or reducing 260,000 tons of waste that would otherwise be sent to the landfill, the company said.

Zero Now is a program that brings the price of a heavy- or medium-duty natural gas truck at parity with a diesel truck while offering a guaranteed fuel discount for the duration of the agreement. In Las Vegas, Clean Energy is expanding Republic Services’ largest natural gas truck yard in the country, adding 92 time-fill fueling spots.

Team partners will purchase a total of 191 commercially available light- to heavy-duty alternative-fuel and advanced-technology vehicles. The project will replace 190 older diesel school buses with hybrid electric school buses to be used in school districts throughout Kentucky. The project also includes construction of a B20 station.
