Open Source Civic EV Kit

After spending the past year and a half converting a Porsche 914 to an electric vehicle, I decided to expand my horizons by designing an open-source electric vehicle (EV) conversion kit for a commonly used car. All the commercially available freeway-capable (70 mph) EVs are priced way out of reach for the average consumer.

It took me 30 seconds to get up to 60 mph. I'm not sure how much current these golf cart batteries are designed for. I think people experience cognitive dissonance when they see a little red Porsche sports car being the slowest car on the road. This makes synchronization of the gears rather difficult.

The revised Think from Think Global has emerged as popular in Europe with a more stylish design than the earlier iteration. It features ABS brakes, dual airbags, and is designed to meet all European and U.S. They are either glorified golf cart city cars like this one or they are only for the very wealthy like the Tesla.
