In an event combining a first-customer ceremony and a media drive, Tustin (California) Hyundai’s Dealer Principal, John Patterson, handed over the keys to Hyundai’s first mass-produced Tucson Fuel Cell crossover ( earlier post ) to Timothy Bush, the first Hyundai Fuel Cell customer, with Hyundai executives in attendance.

Fuel Economy: 25 mpg city/32 highway/28 combined. EPA Fuel Economy: 23 mpg city/28 highway/25 combined. EPA Fuel Economy: Up to 42 mpg city/44 hwy/43 combined (FWD). EPA Fuel Economy: TBD, should be similar to hybrid; 32-mile all-electric range. On our 60-mile drive in the Sportage Hybrid we averaged 45 mpg.

Hyundai Motor America and Kia Motors America will reduce their fuel economy (mpg) ratings for a number of 2011-13 model year models in showrooms after EPA testing found discrepancies between agency results and data submitted by the company. Take the Hyundai Tucson compact crossover, replace the rear section with a truck bed, and voilà…the Hyundai Santa Cruz is born! The EPA rated the Santa Cruz’ fuel economy at 19 mpg city/27 highway/22 combined. In 226 miles of mostly freeway driving through Southern California we averaged 23.8 New Vehicle Five years/60,000 miles.
