A new white paper from the International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) assesses which policy actions are behind the regional leading markets in the US for electric vehicles. In each region, the authors identified the four leading metropolitan areas with the highest electric vehicle share in each region.

Nissan provided a list of the top 15 markets in the US for the Nissan LEAF battery-electric vehicle. Another three are on the West Coast and in Hawaii: Seattle (4), Portland (5), and Honolulu (6). The smart fortwo electric drive has made its debut in the United States. will launch a program this fall that will place electric drive vehicles with partners in select regions of the country.
