Lately Goldman has been driving one around DC, meeting with policy makers and pushing for consumer incentives for hybrid conversions. They are beginning to do crash testing, and will meet emission requirements, in pursuit of a fully legal, compliant vehicle. They've been converting some cars back east, working out the kinks.

iX1 tyres are not run-flats and there is no spare, only a repair kit and tyre pressure monitoring. Add in a DC fast-charge rate that tops out at a claimed 130kW and you can see the iX1 is not cutting edge for range or recharging. Servicing is conditions-based, which means when the car reckons its needs it. That’s progress folks.
