These high-capacity 8-volt golf-cart batteries are 70 pounds apiece. I got this battery strap at a Yamaha golf cart dealer. A modification of the prior strap is basically what is suggested in the DC kit instructions. Tonight was an evening of heavy lifting. I'll definitely take some ibuprofen before tomorrow.

An off-grid energy system basically consists of just four key components: 1) a battery to store energy; 2) one or more renewable energy sources (e.g. solar panels, wind turbines, hydroelectric turbines); 3) an appropriate DC-input charger for said source; and 4) a DC-to-AC inverter to power the house, EV charger, well pump, etc.

Then consider that in order to actually go any farther than the neighbood store, one still had to have ANOTHER car. So just use a portable electric generator in the trunk, from the hardware store to charge the batteries while you drive. run the hardware store and buy a new one. So is the management in Washinton DC.
