The University of Maryland (UMD) will use water-based magnesium and hydrogen chemistries to improve the energy density and reduce the cost of an electric vehicle battery. BASF will develop metal hydride alloys using new, low cost metals for use in high-energy nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) batteries.
