California Air Resources Board releases proposed Advanced Clean Car package: LEV III, GHG and ZEV rules to transform the California fleet; ZEVs and TZEVs to be 15+% of new vehicle sales by 2025

The Advanced Clean Cars program combines the control of soot, smog-causing pollutants (LEV III) and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions into a single coordinated package of requirements for model years 2017 through 2025. This will reduce the monthly cost of a new car by $12, even when considering the higher cost of the loan or lease.

National Research Council Report Recommends Setting a US Carbon Budget Through 2050; Concludes Known Technologies Not Sufficient to Meet Budget Goals

A report issued today by the National Research Council recommends that the US set a measurable domestic greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions budget in the range of 170 to 200 gigatons of CO 2 -equivalent (eq) for the period 2012 through 2050. The report recommends seven specific overarching strategies: Adopt an economy-wide carbon pricing system.
