Smith Electric Vehicles US Corporation (SEVUS) and Altec Industries Inc. Equipped with a 120 kW induction motor and a Li-ion battery pack, it has a top speed of up to 50 mph, a range in excess of 100 miles and a payload of up to 16,280 lbs. The trucks will be assembled at the company’s 80,000 square foot plant in Kansas City.

US Marine Corps purchases two Smith Electric Trucks

Smith Electric Vehicles US Corporation has sold two all-electric Smith Newton trucks to the United States Marine Corps (USMC). The trucks will be built in Smith Electric’s Kansas City, Mo., Smith Electric will deliver the trucks to Camp Pendleton, Calif., plant, and are scheduled for delivery to Camp Pendleton in February 2011.
