Although early markets such as stationary power and material handling account for the bulk of sales, DOE noted that the fuel cell industry made “tremendous progress” in the light-duty transportation sector in 2013. The US had the most fuel cell patents in 2013 with 317 and since 2002, has 43% of the world’s fuel cell patents.
