Ford is cutting its F-150 Lightning production workforce by two-thirds as the company continues to try and ramp manufacturing of electric vehicles and work toward profitability. The Michigan Assembly plant is getting a third shift as Ford continues to lean on gas vehicle sales to bolster its finances.

GM has announced plans for public sales in 2010, and almost every carmaker now says it will sell PHEVs or highway-speed battery electric vehicles (BEVs) sometime after 2010. Shifted earlier focus to all-electric Focus in 2011 with Magna. Focusing on all-electric, Nissan-Renault partnership with Better Place for EVs.

The Volt is, and always has been, more than than an electric car. GM will leapfrog Toyota and Honda by providing an electric car to the masses by the end of next year. Ive found it facinating how car commercials changed the main MPG number they promoted before gas went over $4 a gallon as city miles.
