Boris has spoken and started the end of the petrol engine in the UK. Under Boris’s new Green plan, the sale of new combustion engine vehicles, that are powered wholly by Petrol or Diesel will be banned from 2030. Some ships already use sails in a kind of hybrid system, together with a conventional engine, for when the wind drops.

Jaguar Land Rover and the UK’s Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) are jointly funding an £11-million (US$17-million) research program to develop fully autonomous cars. Led by Dr. Marina Gashinova, the project combines novel low-THz (LTHz) sensor development with advanced video analysis, fusion and cross learning.

At the Manhattan stop on its year-long “Born Electric” World Tour, BMW i featured the BMW i8 Concept Roadster—shown for the first time in North America—and the BMW i3 Concept. i3 Concept. A single-speed gearbox sends the power to the rear wheels and accelerates the BMW i3 Concept to a top speed of 150 km/h (93 mph).
