Volkswagen’s ID.3 debuts for the European market

With its fast charging capability, at a charging output of 100 kW it is possible to recharge the ID.3 The power electronics control the high-voltage energy flow between motor and battery and in this process, the system converts the direct current (DC) stored in the battery to alternating current (AC) for the drive motor.

In doing so the power electronics convert the direct current (DC) stored in the battery into alternating current (AC) and use this to drive the motor. Via a DC/DC converter it also supplies the vehicle’s circuitry with voltage of 12 V. A completely depleted battery is recharged in this way within nine hours. In the e-up!
