NASA awards Aerojet Rocketdyne $67M to develop advanced solar electric propulsion system for space

NASA has awarded Aerojet Rocketdyne a $67-million contract to design and develop an Advanced Electric Propulsion System (AEPS) for spaceflight. A prototype 13 kW Hall thruster during testing at NASA’s Glenn Research Center in Cleveland. This work will directly complement recent advanced solar array systems work, also funded by STMD.
