Porsche and joint venture partner Customcells, a spin-off from Fraunhofer, also announced the launch of production of high-performance battery cells at Porsche’s Weissach Development Center.

Porsche reports that around 60% of all new Panamera models that have been delivered in Europe were equipped with a hybrid drive. In Norway, 90% of all Panamera customers order a hybrid model, while in Finland the figure is 85%. Using fast charging, it will be possible to charge its battery by 80% in just 15 minutes. “

The THINK City will appear in Detroit next week at the North American International Auto Show 2010. It can travel at highway speeds for more than 100 miles on a single charge. The company plans to invest $43.5 million in building improvements and equipment in Elkhart County, and the plant could begin assembling vehicles in early 2011.
