The Government of Spain is aiming to stimulate the electric vehicle market by approving a number of incentives. Among the efforts announces are direct subsidies for the purchase of the vehicles with a budget of €72million for 2011. Electric cars will be subsidised for up to 25 per cent of the purchase price before tax; [.].

More news from Spain this morning as Queen Sophia tries out an electric car, the Peugeot iON. According to The Telegraph this morning, the Spanish Queen tried out the electric model as the country’s government tries to promote a flagging scheme which gives electric car buyers a grant towards their purchase (see story).
