Brigham, based in Austin, Texas, has a strong position in the Bakken and Three Forks tight oil plays in the Williston Basin in North Dakota and Montana. In the Bakken formation, the oil is extracted from tight carbonate. In the Three Forks formation the oil is extracted from tight dolomite. Tudor, Pickering, Holt & Co.
