The data analyzed by Aston University combines and compares the behavior patterns of 25 Mitsubishi i-MiEV drivers over two consecutive quarters. The average charge time per i-MiEV vehicle is two hours. The average cost to trial participants for recharging at home is between 25p and £1 (US$0.40 and $1.60) per day.

In addition to a recent electric car deal with NISSAN Motors ( NSANY ), Portland General Electric, the Oregon state governor and GE have also announced a joint venture with Mitsubishi Motors ( MMTOF.PK ) to develop and sell the Miev electric car with 85 mile range by 2011. Electric cars a still a joke.

There are likely many benefits to home charging that ought to make this the most popular option and here well cover the three "c"s: convenience, cost, and carbon-control. The demands on the grid would require a lot of infrastructure work without some sort of "energy reservoir" in place.
