This process allows all the carbon within the sugar to be converted to FAME, which will allow these lipids—used to produce sustainable aviation jet fuel (SAF)—to be generated at lower cost and with fewer feedstock, resource, and land requirements. The CO 2 released in the upgrading process is recycled internally to produce more acetate.
