As of June 15, 2022, Ford will no longer offer the opportunity to purchase its three all-electric vehicles, the F-150 Lightning, Mustang Mach-E, and E-Transit Van, for new leases. Ford informed dealers in a letter that it was discontinuing the end-of-lease purchase option for the E-Transit van, Mustang Mach-E, and F-150 Lightning.

A potential fleet of Tesla Police Cruisers was rejected by Spokane, Washington’s Police Department after an evaluation of the all-electric Model Y crossover did not convince some members that the vehicle would be effective for law enforcement. However, another manufacturer will likely be producing the EV police cruisers.

The reality is that households that can afford to purchase or lease a $75,000 vehicle don’t need a tax credit enable them to buy the vehicle. But a minimum of 150-175 miles of range for BEVs could also make sense. The proposed revisions to the tax credit also includes a $55,000 MSRP cap for vehicles classified as “Other.”
