The target amount of average tailpipe emissions gets a bit lower each year, resulting in progressively cleaner cars. For light-duty vehicles such as cars, pickups, and SUVs, the 2032 goal is that the fleet average is 85 grams/mile of CO 2. Over the next several years, these standards will continue to trend toward cleaner cars.
