The Carbon Core body structure of the new BMW 7 Series has been awarded the EuroCarBody Award 2015 at the 17 th Global Car Body Benchmarking Conference. The body of the new BMW luxury sedans was given a rating of 41.87 The innovative insulation concept has the additional effect of further improving acoustic comfort.

The morning session started out with an hour long press conference, the highlight being the unveiling of the Volt’s 230 mpg preliminary EPA city fuel economy finding ( earlier post ), as well as a tour showing selected elements from the studios of the four GM North American brands: Chevrolet, GMC, Buick and Cadillac. Another strikingly different concept evidenced by the PHEV is that it is essentially a large, portable battery that can store energy gathered during one part of the day, and then use it later to power not only itself but also the vehicle owner’s home. The convenience and low cost of this concept alone merit attention.
