Avatar E11 – a new brand with big dreams, Avatar has input from Huawei and CATL and is the product of Chinese car maker Changan. BMW iX1 – EV version of the X1 confirmed by 2023. BMW iX – ground-up battery electric vehicle promises to take the luxury fight to Tesla. Think iX3, but smaller. Due November 2021.

In my “working” life (people get very angry when I call driving new cars work), there are a very few “this changes everything” moments, but I just had one when testing the alarmingly good, and relatively cheap, MG4. Years ago, I remember driving my first ever EV, a Mitsubishi WhywhywhyMiEV I think it was called, and hating it enormously.

It won’t be cheap, but Audi’s e-Tron GT and its more potent RS e-Tron GT sibling promise big performance. The recently-arrived X1 compact SUV will soon spawn an EV sibling in the form of the BMW iX1. Badged the BMW i7 , the lengthy four-door promises up to 625km of WLTP range and 400kW/745Nm from its dual electric motors.

Known as the Lightning Cat overseas, the sleek five-door from Chinese maker GWM is yet to be definitively confirmed for Australia. The Chinese-owned British brand made a big EV impact in 2023 with the excellent MG4. None of which will be cheap, the Polestar 3 is priced from $132,900 before on-roads. GWM Ora Sport GWM Ora Sport.
