While people can purchase neighborhood electric vehicles today for about $10K, they only have a top speed of 35 miles an hour or so, essentially glorified golf-carts. This blog is the story of my path towards that goal. There's a kit for the Chevy S-10 pickup, but many people just want a practical car to zip around in.

If the EV1 was viable (or even close) we would see Ford, Toyota, Honda, etc all with 80 mile cars right now.do Teslas new Model S will be pure EV and will get 160 miles per charge for $49,900 and for a bit more $$ you can get the 230 or 300 mile battery options. You guys go ahead and buy your 40 mile per charge GM golf cart.
