The rise of battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) have fans professing its technological wonders, while looking down at plug-in hybrid EVs (PHEVs). While BEVs use a battery-powered motor to power the vehicle, PHEVs have both a battery/electric motor and a gas engine to power them.

There are 2 Prime trims, SE and XSE, both equipped with All-Wheel Drive and a fully-electric hybrid powertrain.

A brief moment in EV history passed us by about a decade ago, when the little-known VIA Motors introduced their lineup of VTRUX hybrid-electric vehicles. Lutz was a staunch supporter of GM’s plug-in hybrid of the time, the Cruze-based Volt. The traditional transmission in each vehicle was removed, and the space used for batteries.
