Of the Rs 27,000 crore plus that M&M plans to invest in its automotive business in the next three years, Rs 14,000 crore will be kept for the ICE vertical – primarily for bringing out new and refreshed SUV models. Out of the nine SUVs, six will be all-new products and three will be mid-cycle enhancements.

As examples of SUV/MPV-style electric vehicle fuel efficiency, the 2016 Tesla Model X AWD - 75D is EPA-rated at 93 MPGe combined city/highway; the Model X AWD - P90D is EPA-rated at 89 MPGe; and the 2016 BYD e6 compact MPV is EPA-rated at 72 MPGe. Level 3 chargers and “superchargers” cannot be used to charge the Pacifica Hybrid.

GM has announced plans for public sales in 2010, and almost every carmaker now says it will sell PHEVs or highway-speed battery electric vehicles (BEVs) sometime after 2010. In late 2008, BYD started selling the first production PHEV in China. BYD also developed the motors and software for the system.

The four-door sedan will deliver 40 miles on a charge; a small gasoline engine will recharge the battery as it approaches depletion, extending its range by as much as 200 miles.
