The Joylong E6. The Joylong E6 is an electric minibus that can carry up to 17 passengers. We had seen the prototype of this vehicle over a year ago and now Perth based Global Automotive Distributors has waded through the red tape and bureaucracy to bring the E6 to Australia in November.

A team from the Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology (SIAT) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has developed a novel, environmentally friendly low-cost battery. The battery shows a reversible capacity of ≈100 mAh g −1 and a capacity retention of 88% after 200 charge–discharge cycles.

BYD, the China-based battery and automaker, will supply lithium-ion batteries to one of China’s top three auto groups for applications in hybrid vehicles. In May, BYD and Volkswagen signed a memorandum of understanding to explore the options for partnership in the area of hybrids and electric vehicles powered by lithium batteries.
