Separately, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) announced it will begin sales of its new-generation electric vehicle i-MiEV to individuals in Japan starting 1 April. MMC has been selling the i-MiEV mainly to corporations since July 2009. Nissan LEAF will also be exempt from the car-weight tax and the car-acquisition tax.

MMNA) and the State of Hawaii have entered into an agreement that will seek to vastly improve the infrastructure and deployment for the new Mitsubishi i and other advanced 100% electric-powered vehicles (EVs) for residents. Licensed drivers will be able to test drive the new Mitsubishi i at Cutter Mitsubishi in Aiea, Hawaii later this fall.

North American spec i-MiEV. Mitsubishi is positioning the North American i-MiEV electric vehicle as the most affordably-priced mass-produced EV available in the US. A redesigned center console featuring improved materials will also feature prominently on the new North American Mitsubishi i-MiEV.

The new i-MiEV M. Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) will offer the i-MiEV electric vehicle in two trim levels in Japan. The more affordable entry-level “M” will be available at the price of ¥1,880,000 (US$23,200) after receipt of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry’s eco-car subsidy.

The Outlander PHEV will have a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of ¥3,324,000–¥4,297,000 (US$38,972–$50,380), including consumption tax. The drive battery is a high-capacity lithium-ion battery developed for the PHEV System based on the technology used in the i-MiEV and MINICAB-MiEV (16.0 kWh models).

The Road Noise Cancellation and Engine Order Cancellation systems will provide vehicle manufacturers with the ability to greatly improve in-cabin refinement, with additional design opportunities for optimising vehicle weight reduction and fuel economy. I have stated the same before. What about busy city streets?

In addition to a recent electric car deal with NISSAN Motors ( NSANY ), Portland General Electric, the Oregon state governor and GE have also announced a joint venture with Mitsubishi Motors ( MMTOF.PK ) to develop and sell the Miev electric car with 85 mile range by 2011. Tax credit incentives are also available to consumers in the U.S.
