The MFC applied this concept of surrogate fuels to develop both fossil-based and bio-based fuel models. Major liquid fuel classes represented in the library include hydrogen; n-alkanes; iso-alkanes; 1-ring aromatics; 2-ring aromatics; cycloalkanes/naphthenes; olefins; oxygenated fuels; and soot precursors and emissions pathways.
