Eight Japanese automakers and one automobile research institute—Suzuki Motor; Daihatsu Motor; Toyota Motor; Nissan Motor; Fuji Heavy Industries; Honda R&D; Mazda Moto; Mitsubishi Motors; and Japan Automobile Research Institute (JARI)—have jointly established the Research Association of Automotive Internal Combustion Engines ( AICE ).

The report found that Toyota is the auto world’s top innovator from a patent perspective, with more than 7,000 patent assignments to the company during the period covered, The company is one of five Japanese carmakers (the others being Honda, Denso, Seiko Epson, Mitsubishi) in the top ten, the most of any country.

GM will leapfrog Toyota and Honda by providing an electric car to the masses by the end of next year. Honda has probably sold more Civics in a year than the combined total of all 18 of those GM models. If the EV1 was viable (or even close) we would see Ford, Toyota, Honda, etc all with 80 mile cars right now.do you see that?
