Unlike Lithium, hydrogen is the most plentiful element in the universe ( Lithium is the key component in electric vehicle batteries).

Continues promotion and development of hydrogen as long-term strategy. Hyundai Partnering with Korean battery companies for hybrids. Company says its focusing on gasoline and hydrogen. Blue Concept PHEV Van with diesel or hydrogen fuel cells and rooftop photovoltaic. No announced plans. Expects production around 2014.

Volt like hybrids are the intermediate future between hydrogen or fast charging electric cars. Toyota Prius modders have already been adding larger batteries so the vehicle can run on battery power. Generating electricity from wind and geothermal rather than a CO2 producing sources would help alleviate that problem.
