Tesla confirmed that it plans to restart production at Gigafactory Berlin next week after shutting it down due to supply issues. Several manufacturing companies in Europe have seen their operations affected by issues with cargo in the Gulf of Aden and the Bab al-Mandeb Strait due to the civil war in Yemen.

Now, Tesla had to stop production and evacuate the factory today amid a potential sabotage of its power supply. This is a net positive.

We’ve heard about Red Sea supply disruptions before, but these are different than those we’ve experienced in the past. To reach the Red Sea, ships must travel through the Gulf of Aden and the Bab al-Mandeb Strait off the coast of Yemen. And so, Tesla will see significant delays in supply of vehicle parts to its Berlin factory.
