Ford unveiled the North American 2011 Ford Fiesta at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Fiesta—available in four- and five-door bodystyles—will offer North American buyers a new choice of 15 class-exclusive technologies and projected highway fuel economy of 40 mpg, besting the Honda Fit, Nissan Versa and Toyota Yaris and Corolla.

GM Daewoo Auto & Technology (GM Daewoo) introduced its all-new global mini-car, the Matiz Creative. Following its launch in Korea, the global mini will be sold in more than 150 markets around the world including those in Europe, Asia and North America. GM Daewoo engineers also factored in pedestrian safety.

The BMW Concept ActiveE is based on the BMW 1 Series Coupe, and will premiere at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) 2010 in Detroit. The optimum positioning of the power electronics above the motor integrated in the rear axle, for reasons of safety and functionality, does result in a reduction of trunk capacity.
