I dunno if it’s the biggest surprise, but the most pleasing news of 2022 was the way the irrepressible die-hards in what remains of the Aussie auto industry leapt on the opportunity EV presents. The Ioniq 5 is also about half the price of the Porsche, more economical, faster accelerating and almost as quick at ultra-rapid charging.

Re performance- with proper engineering, a small light car can protect a driver well. As far as quick, Id give my left nut to own a Wrightspeed EV, so I could (quietly) blow the doors off Porsches and Ferraris. market b y the end of 2009.

I mean, for reference, the auto industry is roughly 100 million vehicles per year. It can outpull an F-350 Diesel, which is a very impressive truck, and it can it can do a quarter-mile faster than a Porsche 911 while towing a Porsche 911. And the Performance, Model 3 Performance, it’s faster than a Porsche 911.
