All we really need in addition to fleets of new paradigm vehicles are additional solar and wind generation sources. In the past the auto industry has responded to incentives and guidelines set by government agencies and reengineered their product to meet this requirement. Similar processes can be followed again.

The government will make direct grants to automakers (as we do, of course) and also provide “subsidies of up to $8,800 are being offered to taxi fleets and local government agencies in 13 Chinese cities for each hybrid or all-electric vehicle they purchase.”

The LEVC electric taxi might still be the only EV that both designed *and* produced on UK’s home turf. France’s auto industry is probably the largest Western auto industry that goes completely under the radar in the US. I finally got hold of reported total bus fleets and bus replacement rates in Europe.
