They are part of the kit bag. Don't get fussed about electric cars not being a solution. If you sensibly want urban densification, transit, walkability and a lot more biking, move to a city that has them and enjoy it.

So far Israel, Denmark, Australia , Hawaii and California’s Bay Area have plans to implement the Better Place model. The vision is fuelled by the fear of climate change and the need to find green alternatives to dirty coal, unpopular nuclear power and unreliable gas imports from Russia. Close down all the car companies.

It will appear in Europe next year as the Opel Ampera and in Australia as the Holden Volt in 2012. If you build a car as a "kit car" with no real factory, then yes, it will never be an economic success. South Korea did that and Australia is going to be doing that. The car is expected to cost around $40,000.
