In a flurry of electric vehicle activity, three back-to-back announcements this week have placed a spotlight on Oregon’s plans to be the friendliest state in the nation in which to build, sell and buy electric cars. But most could build it for under $1k and mine gets the equivalent of 600mpg fuel cost wise.

It will appear in Europe next year as the Opel Ampera and in Australia as the Holden Volt in 2012. They only have that many models because they use the same chassis and drivetrain to build 3 different cars, one branded as a Chevy, the next a Pontiac, then a Saturn, etc. takes time to build this new market and re-coup their investment.
