Nissan provided a list of the top 15 markets in the US for the Nissan LEAF battery-electric vehicle. Atlanta, a “New Wave” EV market that has nabbed the Nº 3 spot due to a number of factors including congestion where LEAF performs well, state incentives and HOV and HOT access. The automaker now expects to begin building electric cars in the US in the fourth quarter of 2024, with the grand opening in the first quarter of next year. Hyundai initially planned to begin production early next year, but the automaker is plowing ahead with the $7,500 federal tax credit on the line.

Last year GM added new dealerships in 2023 in New York, Texas, Los Angeles, and Atlanta, said John Roth, vice president of global Cadillac, yesterday at a media roundup, reported by Detroit Free Press. Back in 2020, about 20% of Cadillac’s US dealers, some 170 to 180 dealers, took buyouts from GM rather than invest, sell, and service EVs.
