General Motors has made its largest renewable energy procurement to date, purchasing enough wind power to equal the electricity needs of 16 of its US facilities, including business offices in Fort Worth and Austin, Texas, a major assembly and stamping complex in Arlington, Texas, and 13 parts warehouses east of the Mississippi River.

The US Army and Air Force are planning to develop 1 billion watts of renewable energy on their installations by 2025. Energy security drives the initiatives, Hammack said, adding that increased usage of renewable energy on military installations would enable them to operate even if local power grids go down.

Laredo Bus Facility Solar Canopies: Provide shade structures with integrated, grid tied photovoltaic cells to be erected on the bus storage lot at the Laredo Bus Maintenance Facility. This grant would allow ConnDOT to upgrade the upcoming purchases of buses and would fund the incremental cost of a hybrid bus compared to a conventional bus.
